As a lifestyle photographer in Wilmington, NC, I capture relationships. Mom and newborn baby. Husband and wife. Brother and sister. Siblings, grandparents, cousins, pets… My favorite shots in almost every photography session somehow capture the beauty of a relationship.
And I realize that life is pretty much all about relationships. Family, friends, even the interactions we have with strangers as we go about our day – they all shape us into who we are.
And then you have those relationships that just completely change your life. That’s what knowing Philip and DeAnne has done for me.
Philip is my pastor (http://anchorwilmington.org), and DeAnne has become my close friend and mentor. Their four kids are friends and role models for mine. The way Philip and DeAnne have invited us into their lives, breathed life into the dead and hurting parts of our souls, believed in us when no one else would… This has rocked my world.
The world needs more people who love radically, live intentionally, and share hope where hope has been lost. I’m thankful to be part of a community of people at the Anchor who are aiming to do just that by the power of Jesus Christ.
The theme Philip and DeAnne chose for this family photography session is “Repurposed” – They went shopping at thrift stores to find second-hand clothing (and the best part – each kid got to let their own personality shine in their choices!), used antique suitcases as props, and even found an old bridge to crash for this photography session.
It was chilly and drizzling that day, but we didn’t let the weather stop us (this family is pretty much unstoppable anyway) – there were pictures to be taken and fun to be had. And cars to be dodged between poses on this one-way bridge in downtown Wilmington, NC. I always enjoy time spent with this family!
