I’m a photographer in Wilmington, NC… but it hasn’t always been that way. I was, in fact, born in California. I love me some Wilmington, but to be honest, I’ll always be a California girl.
Needless to say, it’s always cause for celebration when we are able to make the monumental effort to coordinate time off from 3 home businesses, gather up 2 children (+car seats + luggage + everything else), and head west to visit the family. Once we’re there, I usually end up scrapping the “time off” part and shooting a few portrait sessions, but I love it that way. California landscape is so completely different from what I’m used to in coastal North Carolina, and it gets my creative juices flowing.
So my sister recently got this amazing dog. Like, they were pretty much meant for each other. She is going through some dog training certifications, and he’s the perfect companion for her as she works through the training courses. So, of course, I had to take some time to do a photography session with Rachel and Jack.
Isn’t she gorgeous? And Jack. Just adorable. And the sweetest, most polite dog you could ask for. She’s really got his heart, and is doing a great job training him. (Now, if I could just do the same with my KIDS… Not really. But kinda…)
I sometimes have people ask if they can bring their pets to a family portrait session. The answer is YES! (as long as you can control them!) We’ll pick a pet-friendly portrait location and have fun! I also make a point to include pets in all my in-home family lifestyle photography sessions in Wilmington, NC. After all, they ARE part of the family!
