I’ve been a little slow getting back into the swing of things after the birth of my sweet Crosby. So many moments to be documented, but at the same time – I really want to enjoy them, too! So it’s been a balancing act, and I’ve erred on the side of enjoying the moment. My iPhone camera has gotten a lot of use (follow me on Instagram for more! @coliephotos), because I can pull it out, photograph a moment, and put it down to enjoy the little ones again.
But today I pulled out the big camera, and we set an interval timer while Kenny and I cleaned up the living room. Yes, it was a mess. Yes, Crosby had a blowout. Yes, I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get the car seat cover back on (after a huge, nasty blowout forced us to throw it in the washing machine!). And yes, I was still in my PJs. But my living room got clean, and I had so much fun seeing my little life from another perspective. And for all those who don’t have kids, this is what it’s like alllll day long. Busy little people going and coming and interrupting and bringing joy and frustration and incredible fulfillment all at once.
Things have been a bit crazy the past few weeks as we adjust to our new normal. But I can say one thing for sure – I love being a mommy, and these two boys bring me SO. MUCH. JOY. And mess. And not much sleep. But much joy. And I want to use photography to capture some of these moments so in the years to come, when I look back and it’s all a tired blur, I have some of those moments preserved in crystal clarity to relive again and again. <3
