Throw! Catch! Run! Tackle! Nothing like Thanksgiving time to bring out the football in a family, right?
Well, I don’t think it takes Thanksgiving to bring out the football in THIS family! These boys were ALL about football, and it was so much fun to photograph some beautiful family moments as they played football together in beautiful Wilmington, NC.

As a Wilmington, NC photographer, my goal is to capture the REAL joy, fun, and love a family shares. We usually start with a few posed family pictures, but really, I think the most beautiful moments are those spontaneous interactions that happen as a family plays together. This time, we chose football. And there was no better choice for these two energetic boys!
The beautiful, golden evening light was perfectly on our side, as well, which only adds to the magic of these moments! I so enjoyed my time with this family, especially since I have two boys of my own. It was fun to see what my own family might look like a couple years down the road when Crosby is old enough to run and play!

I just love downtown Wilmington! I feel like it’s a photographer’s dream-come-true. So many historical buildings, beautiful architecture, the water, bridges, sunset over the North Carolina Battleship – it’s all just amazing.
We headed over to downtown Wilmington with this sweet military family to get some fine art pictures with Dad in his dress blues uniform before he officially left the Marine Corps. It’s such a privilege to serve these military families who spend months on end living apart in order to serve and protect our country.
It’s the least I can do to help them capture the beauty and magic of the military lifestyle (and yes, being a former military wife I can attest that in the midst of the hardship of military life, there truly is magic and beauty to be found).
This was our goal as we approached this fine art family portrait session – to capture the grandeur and beauty of this Marine interacting with his little girls whom he loves so dearly. And not to mention his gorgeous wife who has stood behind him through thick and thin! The love they share is obvious in everything they do, and it was so much fun to spend some time in downtown Wilmington with this beautiful family!
What is more precious than a sweet girl dancing with her Daddy? Sometimes, being the photographer at these family portrait sessions, I just have to take a moment and breathe because the beauty of what is unfolding before my lens is so incredible. While we were at it, we had to get some whimsical shots of just little Lexi in her beautiful dress. I love children’s photography because kids are so real and genuine and you can capture the most intense emotion on their little faces!
And of course, to top it all off, we had to get some sunset pictures with the USS North Carolina Battleship off in the background. Such beautiful love in such beautiful locations – you can’t beat it!

One of the things I love most about being a photographer in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina is that North Topsail Beach is just 5 minutes from my house. I can go running on the beach, spend an hour or a day there, or make a spur-of-the-moment sunset excursion on the beach. It’s a great spot for family vacations, as well, and a perfect place for family pictures!
North Topsail Beach is where I met this sweet family for their photography session. What a blast we had! I was SO impressed with these kids and how they waited patiently until all the posed pictures were finished and we could spend a little time just playing in the surf. I love to include candid pictures in all my family photography sessions, and I always suggest some sort of fun activity so we can really see the personality of each individual in the family. This family portrait session on North Topsail Beach was no different. Playing in the surf brought out the best in the boys, but it also brought a few tears when the little girl’s dress got wet in the waves. I see in these pictures the sweet innocence and magic of childhood as well as the love and security of family. Beautiful memories!

Sadie was one of the very first newborns I had the privilege of photographing. You can see her newborn photography session from last year–she won everyone over with her mini mermaid costume! Needless to say, I was SO excited when I found out she was coming back for her 1 year cake smash! As expected, she was full of sweet smiles, and she DEMOLISHED that cake. In fact, it was a wee bit hard to get it all off of her in the end, but oh, she did have a blast, and as you can see, we got some beautiful baby pictures I know her family will treasure forever!

The best part about being a photographer is that I get to take all kinds of awesome pictures of my own baby! But alas, he is hardly a baby anymore. Kenny Jr. just turned 2 years old, and we definitely had to sneak in a little 2-year-old photo session! We headed to downtown Jacksonville, NC for our photography session, and it was just great. He loves exploring and experiencing new things, and of course, playing peek-a-boo, as you can see! In my baby photography sessions, I try to capture the milestones they have achieved, and toddlers are no different. He can now go up and down stairs without holding onto the rail, he can JUMP, and run around like crazy. And he LOVES cars. In fact, he recently learned to draw them, and I am so, so amazed at what he learns every day! I love you, little buddy!
